Amnet Gaming Zone is here

We’re very pleased to announce the successful launch of Amnet’s Gaming Zone (AGZ for short).

AGZ header

The AGZ benefits customers by giving them local access to online gaming servers. The traffic doesn’t leave Amnet’s network and doesn’t count to your download allowance. Plus, it’s local so the higher speeds mean that you’ll enjoy a superior gaming experience.

We’re “serving” up some popular titles like Unreal Tournament 3, Half Life 2 Death Match, Team Fortress 2, Counter Strike Source and Call of Duty 4.

If you enjoy online gaming and want to have a play we encourage you to seek our servers, check out the site by visiting http://gaming.amnet.com.au/. If you have any feedback or suggestions, please email gaming@amnet.com.au.

The Amnet Cable Guy races for Telethon

Big ol’ Mascot’s were never meant to run, but Mix 94.5’s “The Big Couch” had other plans. They put out the call for all mascots to come out and participate, the event was scheduled for Friday 3 October down at the Perth Esplanade with the $1,000 entry fee donated to Telethon.

Never one to shy away from a challenge and always keen to do our bit for charity, we put our hand up. As with all big ideas, it turned out, well we’ll let you decide for yourself. Enjoy the pictures.

hot tip

October's Hot Tip: finding Peering sites

We know the internet can sometimes seem like a deep dark abyss, so we wanted to shed some light by offering you some hints and tips in every issue.

This month’s tip relates to that ever burning question: “How do I use more of my Peering Allowance?”. Here’s a tip that can help you figure out which websites are “peered”.

Trace route, that’s right I said it, trace route! This little system lets you check the route taken by your traffic from your computer to its final destination; it’s like a GPS for the internet. The purpose is to determine if the traffic goes through a peering network, for example in WA it’s the WAIX network.

To find out how to run a trace route, download the PDF guide for your operating system below;
